Having found myself ranting in ever lengthier notes on Facebook in the run-up to the recent Canadian elections, I thought I might as well turn those private rants into more publicly available outpourings. I’ll copy my last note into a post right now, and will then inaugurate this blog properly with a new post attempting an analysis of the results of last Monday’s vote.
I suspect – or I should say, I hope – Canadian politics will not remain the dominant focus of my posts here, but we’ll see. I imagine I’ll find myself writing about baseball a fair bit, at least if the Red Sox remain competitive. I’ll probably also have a thing or two to say about university politics and the place of academics in the world. If things get really desperate, I might write about Shakespeare, too, but for now, I hope it won’t come to that. Unless someone makes me go see Anonymous.
